7th Grade Teaches/Helps 5th Grade
The 7th grade students and Mrs. Takei joined Mr. Wheeler and his 5th graders for an hour of google drive. This was the first time the fifth graders had heard of 'drive' or 'google docs' and they were given their own SGS email logins to access the features our school has adopted. This is a series of short clips that were merged together to show how their was a direct instruction component as well as a touch and play component. Each 5th grade had their own laptop and the 7th graders worked with a few 5th graders to help and support as needed. During this hour, 5th graders learned their new gmail login, changed their password, learn how to open drive, used the document and the drawing feature in drive, and shared a document that was they then collaborated on to complete a list of "must haves" set by the teacher's instructions. |

Listen as two students explain math workshops in the middle school. Typically, students rotate through 4-6 stations during the week. Each station has a video (or two), usually created by the teacher, that the students watch and take notes from. Then, there is a follow up traditional paper/pencil assignment for the students to practice needed skills. |

They had a rubric 'shared' via google docs and used it to ensure that their presentation had all the components required. |
