Miss Scroggins (2/3)
Hello! My name is Danielle Scroggins and I am so excited to be rejoining the Sunol Glen Community as teacher in the 2/3 Multi-Age Program. I grew-up in Sunol and attended Sunol Glen School K-8thgrade. I had a great experience attending Sunol Glen and I look forward to the opportunity to give back to the community that gave so much to me. I have also spent a year working in Sunol Glen’s Eagle’s Nest Program and continue to be heavily involved in the local Sunol 4-H Club.
After graduating with honors from nearby Foothill High School in Pleasanton I moved to the University of California, Santa Cruz to earn my B.A. in History with a minor in Education. While at UCSC, I spent nearly a year studying abroad at Cambridge University, UK and then later at the Universidad de Cordóba, España. While living in Spain I developed a great empathy for ELL students and learned first hand what it feels like to struggle to succeed in classes not taught in one’s native language. As a result of this experience, I recognize the importance of differentiating my instruction to meet the variety of needs of all my students. I always want my classroom to be a safe place where students can express themselves while developing their own sense of responsibility and independence.
I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life. I have experience teaching in a bilingual kindergarten, first grade, and third grade classrooms. I have also substitute taught in kinder, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade classrooms in both Dublin and New Haven Unified School Districts. I earned my Multiple
Subject Teaching Credential, with EL Authorization, from CSU East Bay. I have am currently working towards earning a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum Design and Instruction. I want my students to be lifelong learners and believe in leading by example. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and traveling the world. I am looking forward to this upcoming school year and all of the magic that comes with getting children excited about learning something new.
