About Mrs. Takei (7/8 Math/Science)
My name is Suzette Takei and I have been teaching at Sunol Glen since 2008. My husband, Jon, and I have four children: Kaela, Malia, Garrett, and Noelani. All four are proud Sunol Glen Eagles or SGS graduates. Sunol Glen is forever a part of us!
I have always wanted to be a math teacher. When I was in Kindergarden I wrote, "When I grow up I want to be a teacher and a nun." (I went to Catholic School). I completed by BA in 1996, my MA in 1999, and have worked for Fremont Unified School District, East Whittier Unified School District, and Ohlone College as an adjunct professor of Child Development. I own a preschool (Natural Bridges Preschool in Newark, CA) and continue to write parenting articles and teach parenting classes.
I have taught everything from preschool through Junior College, BUT Middle School is my passion and love! Working at Sunol Glen is amazing! The staff, creativity, multi-age and looping classes, and the ability, as a teacher, to design and implement new strategies and technology is phenomenal. I am so excited to be in my 6th year here; working to strengthen and expand our math & science programs, help students find themselves to be capable and confident, develop and implement new "best practices" using technology & the common core standards, and work with a suburb staff as partners and collaborators.
