About Julia Harris (K/1)
Hello Sunol Glen Families! My name is Julia Harris and I’m delighted to be apart the Sunol Glen Community. I grew up in Fresno, California where I first started working with kids coaching water polo and teaching swim lessons. In May 2006, I graduated from the University of the Pacific with a BA in Liberal Studies. I decided to further my studies and in December 2006 I graduated with my Masters in Education and a Multiple Subject Credential.
I completed both of my student teaching experiences in Lodi Unified School District where I taught first and fifth grade. Following my student teaching, I was hired in Lodi Unified to teach first grade. Then in August 2007, I started teaching second grade at Cumberland Elementary School in Sunnyvale, CA. I have taught second grade for the past four years and loved it! While teaching second grade I discovered my passion for teaching reading. I recently went back to school to obtain my Language Arts Specialist Credential from Santa Clara University.
I really enjoy teaching and working with children. I love to share my enthusiasm for learning and encourage my students to grow and learn. I have high expectations for every child; I believe every student has the ability to achieve their best!
When I’m not teaching I enjoy hanging out with my husband, Kyle, and my son, Dillon, going on walks with my dog, Bella, bike riding, skiing, and hanging out with my family and friends. I am very excited to begin this year, and delighted to take part in your child’s education. Your support is very important! A successful learning experience is built on a cooperative effort among parent/guardian, child, and teacher. I look forward to getting to know the new families in our class room communities as we begin this wonderful year! Thank you!
